Coil Strips




	Single and Multi-Value coils, Stamps of this type are normally collected in strips, the usual is either a strip 5 for the single values, or a strip of 4 or 5 for the multi-values. Endways delivery stamps are vertical with the stamp image joined above one another. These are normally single value coils. Sideways delivery are all horizontally formatted, this method was used for single and multi-value coils, the stamp images are side by side.


	Multi Value coils . These were originally vended from Post office machines. During 1981 they were supplied as return postage for certain private promotional Readers Digest mailings. Marshall Ward and Drive Magazine also used the 2nd R.D strip. Promotional strips have a wax additive on the gummed side, this was used to secure the coil to the backing card. The post office made the Readers Digest strips available to other collectors, obtainable from philatelic outlets. Over a period several se-tenent strips were issued all had varied formats/gums and papers. Self Adhesive Coils were also sold in boxes which also acted as a dispenser. Originally they were of a horizontal format from a box of 100, these were printed by Enschede in gravure. During 1998 after the initial trial period they were release in vertical format from dispensers of 200. They are now sold in coils without the dispensers.
