Multi Value Coil Strips
Picture

It is well documented and known by collectors that coil stamps come from continuous strips extracted from master rolls of 500 - 1000 stamps.  Originally designed to be dispensed from Post Office vending Machins for the convenience of passing customers outside main offices.

Coils were dispensed to the customer in strips pro rata of 4 or 5 depending on the face value and denomination of coil and also the coin (s) inserted. These proved to be very popular with collectors and due to the demand, they were eventually also made available from Philatelic counters.

There are many variations values, different paper and gum types to collect, but as this is such a vast spacialised field I am only showing  some of the basic multi value coils that I have in stock at this time.

For the collector, in order to catagorise this type of this material, these can be broken down into three main formats. These are listed as

( 1 ) Vertical (endways delivery)

( 2 ) Horizontal ( sideways delivery )

( 3 ) Multi Value or Se-Tenant ( sideways delivery).

Se-Tenant Coil Strips

It should be noted when purchasing coil material that perforations are normally trimmed - Top and bottom on horizontal varieties and trimmed to the sides on the vertical coils. I only carry a limited number of vertical and one value coils so the majority of these are not listed on these pages at this time.

Coils are normally collected in strips in unmounted mint condition or in the case of actual promotional strips on the card secured with the original wax, or off the original card showing the wax strip on the reverse.

Some are also known used on first day cover. Coil Strips can ( are ) also collected in different se-tenant formats. These are quite difficult to obtain and as such carry a premium over the norm. See images Left
